About us
David Mitchell & Co. was formed in 1991 with the aim of providing a cost-effective service in the areas of accountancy, taxation and general financial advice to all businesses from the sole-trader to small limited companies. Tax advice is also available to all individuals on all aspects of their taxation affairs.
Through specialist personnel the firm aims to give the range of services expected from a larger accountancy practice whilst maintaining the cost and fee levels of a small firm.
Bob Oakes followed a number of years as a Tax Inspector specialising in the investigation of the tax affairs of individuals and businesses, with a move to private practice in the mid 1980's. He worked for two of the largest U.K. accounting firms as a tax specialist and manager before helping to form David Mitchell & Co. He has wide experience of compliance and planning in respect of all the major U.K. direct and indirect taxes. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
David Mitchell having qualified as a chartered accountant left the profession to work in industry. With 40 years business experience he is well placed to offer general business and management advice together with financial consultancy and guidance on negotiations for acquisition, disposal, and merger of businesses and advice on property and other business transactions. Since retiring as a partner of David Mitchell & Co. he remains active with the firm as a consultant.
Jacqui Brierty joined the firm on a freelance basis in 1991, and has been a permanent member of staff since 1993. Her training was as in management accounting, and this has led to her being responsible for the firm's computerised book-keeping and payroll services. Jacqui also specialises in VAT and PAYE returns, and all matters to do with construction industry compliance.
Where it is considered necessary David Mitchell & Co. can call upon other specialists within the business, legal and accountancy professions as required. This means clients only pay for these specialists when actually needed on their affairs.
Formed as a partnership in July 1991, since May 2005 the business has been carried on by David Mitchell Accountancy Limited.
